Hi, so I have a question about [finn.no](https://finn.no) and was hoping you guys might be able to give me some advice. So to keep it short, someone was giving away a chair for free. The advertisement marked the chair as “used”, so I figured it would probably have a few scratches here and there. I picked it up and brought it back home, but turns out I can’t even use the chair. The top part of a few of the bolts has broken off into the screwholes, so I can’t get the legs of the chair on. And even if I did get what’s left of the bolts out, I would have to go buy new ones to be able to use the chair. I messaged the “seller” about this a few hours ago, but haven’t gotten any response. Is there anything I can do? I’m honestly a little pissed off as it feels like this person just gave me their trash, because they were to lazy to throw it away themselves. I also wasted quite a bit of time and energy to go pick it up.

  1. Sounds like someone who cheated you because they didn’t want the hassle with taking it to the recycling station.

I believe most of those free offers on Finn are genuine, the “seller” has a fully functional item, but knows that it’s outdated and the market price is close to zero, so they rather want to give it away than dumping it. But whenever there is a free offer like that you still need to check that it’s not trash.

In this case, I’d just drive the chair back and dump it in their garage or parking space if they have one and it’s not too far away. I know that’s even more work and time for you, but at least they have to spend some time and money to take it to recycling. Unless they just fool someone else into collecting it 🤷🏼‍♂️
