The anti-vax gene pool gets significantly shallower?
Omicron is the Christmas miracle we need. Highly contagious and not really dangerous. Everyone gets the coof, stops freaking out and we can get on with life.
Interesting article and yes there are some things to be positive about, however there is not yet enough data to confirm omicron is milder. Everybody wants this to be true and waiting for more info doesn’t make anybody a doom monger.
Even if it is milder, sheer number of cases could well cause problems for the NHS – but once again ‘could’. This is all stuff that needs to be prepared for or our response can be wrong footed.
The best situation is that it turns out to be milder in every respect and even if it causes a surge in hospitalisations that they are within what the NHS can deal with. This way we head out of the wave with a high level of booster and natural protection to reinfection as winter passes.
It’ll become clearer in the next week or two as data from the rising variants effects (one way or the other) on hospitalisation and death are easier to see. The London data will be the earliest indication as the highest omicron levels in the uk are there first.
