  1. Sources of this image ([1](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/337194883_Thirteenth_annual_international_academic_conference_on_European_Integration_EuropE_and_thE_Balkans), [2](https://geopoliticalfutures.com/gdp-per-capita-change-in-europe/)) don’t include any explanation. As a Czech, I’m a little shocked I haven’t heard any narrative about such large difference yet, perhaps something to do with the particulars of privatization or the [1997 crisis?](https://ekonom.cz/c1-67076590-investori-pred-25-lety-potopili-ceskou-korunu-cnb-kvuli-tomu-zmenila-pristup-k-inflaci)

**EDIT:** Note that even red color marks a positive change (+15 %)

  2. Because percentages are based on the reference number. If you start at a very low reference, it’s easy to get high %growth

  3. To bude nějaká chyba ve sběru/vyhodnocování dat
    HDP(na hlavu) ČR v 1995 bylo 5824USD a v roce 2015 bylo 17829USD takže nárůst 32.6%
    pro orientaci HDP(na hlavu) Polska v roce 1995 bylo 3686USD a v roce 2015 bylo 12560USD takže nárůst 29,3%
