Hi all, I am just curious about this topic, I was looking into a TV (Samsung QN91B) and as per [geizhals.at](https://geizhals.at) \- Irdeto/ORF only supports decoding for Austria models with the ending “XXN”.

So basically my question is, as this tv does not support decoding of signals from ORF do I still have to pay for GIS? 🤔

Note: I know about the mandatory gis fee from next year. Sorry for the English post.

  1. As long as it has a tuner you’ve got to pay.

    Doesn’t matter if you are able to watch. As of January every household has to pay “Haushaltsabgabe”. Regardless of a tuner, electricity or anything else.

    Exceptions for “freed” people like social cases and so on that don’t have to pay GIS already.
