I’m baking bread myself here in Norway and struggped a bit with buying flour. So far was pretty good, but this time the bread tastes like baked sand. (Or rather the texture feels like). Am I supposed to mix this flour? I see in the front it says knekkebred, but on the back it’s also showing a normal bread. I am confused xD

  1. This is rye flour. You can make bread with it, but it will not be like the bread you make with wheat (hvete)

  2. It is easier to bake with wheat and not rye. Usually recipes mix a bit of both.

I recommend starting with a premixed flour mixture.

  3. That’s rye flour. Using it alone without other flour will make your bread heavy and compact.

If you want a more airy, normal bread, use up to 20% of this and 80% wheat (all sifted “siktet”, or a mixture of sifted and collected “sammalt” wheat).
