Please remain calm, this is just my civilian, not really well-informed opinion, despite me being interested superficially in the military stuff – somewhat.
As far as I understand, Poland doesn’t have a complete, all time radar coverage of our eastern flank. That might sound bad, but to be fair: even if we had it, there’s still a high chance these missiles and helicopters wouldn’t be detected in time.
There are quirks and certain limitations of radar systems, many of which are too complicated for me to understand. There are also many factors to consider.
Anyway, from what I’ve seen so far, and from the reports I’ve read, these missiles have entered our airspace at either very low attitude, which means that without AWACS coverage, the on-ground systems and their detection would be easily obscured by things like trees and terrain. There were also talks about bad weather, which – honestly – I could see it having an impact.
Belarusian Helis. Well, that was a dickish move from their part, right? Someone suggested they were testing the waters. I had a look at [the map](https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/eGTJQa8EsdLkQMCPuWT56g–/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTY0MDtoPTQzMw–/https://media.zenfs.com/en/ukrayinska_pravda_articles_451/9d9d695ab8679c1c4d4afee23e9eb7a1) and honestly, it just seems like a pure incompetence of the Belarusian side. I don’t expect us going with guns blazing because they’ve lost themselves over a forest.
But the MoD knew beforehand about their planned maneuvers, right? And they didn’t prepare just in case something exactly like this happened?
But what was really disappointing was our Ministry of Defense’s responses, which not only drove a wedge between them and the commanding staff of the army, but also caused some cracks to appear in the army’s command itself. Generals have been forced to focus more on politics than doing their jobs.
And the worst part is: ***they’ve made the same stupid mistake again and again***
And what’s even worse than that, MoD and Błaszczak have made us look weak, and scared. And this is the last thing we needed right now. Their public communication strategy was non existent, totally unprepared and unprofessional.
Don’t get me wrong, they still might’ve dropped the Ball on this, and still get out on top, by showing at least some spine, by being straightforward and confident. But they weren’t. After the first missile was gone, Błaszczak disappeared somewhere. Only his media aide gave some unclear statements. Then they blamed everything on General staff, without even hearing their case. **Publicly** What the fuck was that supposed to be? This is not how things are done. As a head of MoD you don’t drop on your knees and suck Presidential cock in hope that he will serve as a mediator between you and army command. What the fuck.
And now this fuse. What a shitshow.
Anyway, these were my 5 groszy on the topic. Feel free to share your thoughts.
