Fears UK’s cashless society will leave more than just the vulnerable behind

  1. There’s also the drug dealers and tax evaders.

What a silly article. I understand that some vulnerable people are negatively affected by cashless but this specific story is basically “tourist didn’t do any research for his holiday and it cost him £73.” It’s not exactly a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

  2. Anytime you create a single point of focus, someone will attack it. In an era of state sponsored hacking and terrible company cyber security, going electronic with something as basic as money is insanity.

This isn’t old people refusing to adapt, this is protecting basic financial infrastructure. And let’s face it. Banks only want this so they can make bigger profits. Not a valid reason to open your country up to financial trouble.

  3. How strange – tourists able to navigate their way to the UK can’t use a debit card? That’s just odd.

  4. What kind of vulnerability means that somebody cannot have a bank card? I can’t think of any situation at all, homeless people can get them now which would have been the obvious answer. What am I missing here ?

  5. My cash in hand neighbour does not approve of a cashless society.
