Logically, it makes 0 sense to increase mortgage without saving interest rate. It is nothing else but rip off
You also have to blame the people, if people are happy enough to leave their money sitting in accounts earning virtually no deposit interest, and for the small interest you do earn – you have to pay DIRT, then it’s on them.
If everyone just moved their funds off deposit, I can assure you the banks would act.
