Col Shtefan (Stirlitz) of the Ukrainian Amred Forces puts to rest the question of whether Ukraine;s daily reports on Russian losses include just those killed or all casualties
Conclusion: They’re just those killed
That number, by the way, is now 254,380
Stirlitz says the number of wounded are that figure times three — in other words, another 750,000 or so — meaning 1 million total Russian casualties
While this number may seem high, keep in mind that about half of the wounded would have likely returned to battle after medical treatment
Stirlitz says the figures don’t, however, include Wagner mercenaries

That’s a lot in the space of a 3 day special military operation!
Believing these figures isn’t going to help Ukraine in any way, we have to stay realistic.
Russias losses are massive, several other sources (NATO intelligence especially) put the total amount of casualties about 10% above the amount of “liquidated personnel” as Ukraine tracks it. That is a much more realistic number than a million casualties.
The initial force committed was about 200k, there were 300k mobilized, a bunch of prisoners, volunteer battalions and Wagner. The figures just don’t add up.. if there were actually a million casualties, there’s no way that Russia would be able to defend the frontlines right now.
They’re still a VERY dangerous fighting force with a crapload of equipment and a lot of bodies to throw at any problem. Let’s not lose track of that.

Happy to have it finally confirmed.
If those numbers were true the war would be over, the 250k+ figure is more closer to the total of casualities of all types, there is a study that claims that too https://twitter.com/milten_ua/status/1679226091750273025
that’s impossibly high. 250k total casualties is more likely, maybe closing in on 70k – 90k KIA now is more realistic.

!
I’m skeptical, sorry. Don’t take this the wrong way but I’m just as skeptical of Ukrainian claims in this war thus far as Russian claims. For there to be 1 million Russian killed and wounded – has Russia even **deployed** that many troops to Ukraine!?
I did my own calculation and I find 34k KIA as the bare minimum loss KIA possible with what they have lost in equipment.
I have estimated this with the real equipment confirmed loss by localization, 100% crew dead when the equipment is totally destroyed, 20% dead when it s only damaged or something else.
In no way they cant have less KIA than that, because i m not taking into account the infantry loss, that is way bigger than crew death of mechanical equipment.
all those big brains saying it was kia + mia + Injured, hahahahah 😂
1 million fucked up Nazis. I mean ruZZians…
While I can believe the 250,000 KIA, The ratio of wounded to dead is not 3-1. moscowites have been shooting their wounded, leaving them to die, or just not treating them. Their front line is a meat grinder. Those who suffer there are not meant to survive. Deaths can be hidden. The existence of that many wounded can not.
I want You to just stop and think for those numbers for a second:
-about 260K dead on the Ruzzian side alone
-about 750k wounded (again Ruzzian side)
-half of those would return to the battlefield, which means the other 375k CAN’T.
And of those 375k that return, most will have PTSD like its nobody’s business…

Countless civilians dead in Ukraine, tens of thousands of dead (civilian and military),8 million refugees….

So much suffering and pain because of 1 madman’s ambitions…
We humans are NUTS!!!!

Yes,I am quite aware that the war is NOT Ukraine fault, that is not what I am saying. Just the completely meaningless loss of life is staggering.
I’ve posted this in replies to a couple of comments – but it is worth a separate comment. Most people won’t have seen this:
Here is a clip of one of ru’s top propagandists (Skaabeyeva) being shocked at finding 285,000 obituaries in russian social media. (From ru state TV in first week of this month) Some would be double ups – but also not all deaths would be reported in social media – and also those recording as missing (and that’s a lot) are also missing – so UA’s numbers track pretty well.

so all that action in Bakmut was…. wait what?
While a quarter of a million might already be taken off the personell list for good by now there might still be a couple of millions on the to do list before actual peace can happen, I’m affraid. As now now Russians still seem eager to die in Ukraine for the chance of raping some women or finding a washing machine. Russia might run out of equipment and supplies before running out of surplus lower class men.
Where are they going to find all this onions ?
That’s clearly completely incredible – the total of a million casualties far exceeds the actual combat power available to Russia – including the initial invasion force, the mobilisation wave and everyone conscripted normally since. So yeah, this is propaganda – but that doesn’t detract in any way from Ukraine’s achievements through this war and nor is it a problem – propaganda during wartime is a completely normal, expected and **important** thing.
Paging u/mediandude for another official claim of a 1:3 KIA to WIA ratio.
