Maybe also add a line that if a second doctor’s independent opinion is that the person is not sick at all they should lose 100%.
Although I fully support this, there’s also a downside for the actual sick parlementarians, such as Goede Liekens.
However, I don’t see why they should be entitled to significantly more than average joe but do understand the reason for paying them well is to assure (naive?) their independence.
In the case of EK it’s obvious abuse that should be managed, but in some other cases a more nuanced view might be needed.
And what about non sick parliamentarians who don’t show up in parliament? They still keep their full wages for not doing anything? Ok, got it.
Mayby also reduced pay for the ones just coming to vote…
>Volgens Rousseau zou de nieuwe regeling, die dan dezelfde zou zijn als voor werknemers, snel kunnen ingaan. Een parlementslid dat langdurig ziek is zou dan vanaf de 2e maand terugvallen op 60 procent van het loon.
Which is 3600 euro net, still a lot more than the average employee in Belgium for doing nothing.
This reminds me of those Lucky Luke strips where some poker cheater usually ends up in “pek en veren” and gets run out of town.
No trail, no courts, no parlementary rules, just “payback’s a bitch” now see I’m not in favour of these practices HOWEVER the more I read about Belastinggeldkiwi (and the absurdly gracious and generous self-serving system politicians have set up), the more I’m like “can’t we just do the ol’ pek en veren and run her out of the country? Just this once? Or okay I have a small list here all of which are politicians by coincidence…”
Could we have the same rule when there is no actual federal government? Might speed up the formation next time we’re dealing with that mess again.
En dan gaan ze “stemmen” en is het opens unaniem van tafel gestemd… En niemand heeft dan toe dat ze tegen hebben gestemd. We kennen België wel hé.
Whilst they’re at it, maybe also cancel the 2 year continued pay after not being re-elected.
