parts of the country feel like Escape From New York but they’re turning away guards now for shite like that
>The would-be garda previously had a tattoo on his neck removed as he was aware of the subject of tattoos in the garda uniform and dress code. The information booklet states: “Body art (tattoos) on the face, or visible above the collar, are not permitted.
“All other tattoos will be covered at all times while on duty, whether in uniform or plain clothes.”
It was on this basis that he believed he would be complying with the code if he were to wear a cover on his hand while on duty, hiding the image.
Whatever about an arm tattoo, but this was the full back of his hand…
While I absolutely have no issue with tattoos, I have my own, I can see why someone with a stick up their ass would take issue with this.
I don’t see much of an issue with it, lots of people, gards incl have them. I’ve seen local gards with full sleeves of tats wearing short sleeved shirts. It kinda looks cool tbh.
I feel sorry for the guy. I hope they create a big enough stink to return. This is *not* the reason to fail gards out of the college when the country is begging for more.
August really is silly season.
I feel sympathy for the cadets but I’ve never seen an on-duty Garda with visible tattoos, especially on the hands. And so I’m not surprised that this decision was taken.
