  1. A little back story!

I come home every year for Christmas without fail. I make it a priority, especially now that my dad is no longer around. We lost him this year to cancer. I knew this year could be tough, especially for my mam. I live in Toronto with my partner who is from Mexico.

We were determined to make it home this year even with all the crap that’s going on. We needed to be here for my mam. I decided it would be a good idea to bring our families together this year. It would be a happy distraction for my mam and a great surprise for my partner she as hasn’t seen her parents in almost 2 years.

So I had to be extra sneaky to get the flights, check them in, fill out the passenger locator forms for here and Portugal as they transited through there. Also they have little to no English, so I wrote a little note explaining to the immigration officer here in Ireland to make things a little easier for them.

Then the day after we arrived in Waterford, I got up and drove to Dublin to collect them whilst telling my partner some rubbish story so I could peel away. Seeing her reaction filled me heart. I cry almost every time I watch this little video.

Happy Christmas everyone! Give those closest to you a hug. I wish my dad was here to share these moments but I know he’s close. Love you old friend and miss you so much!!!

  2. You’re a good guy and fair play to you for organising. That was just beautiful. Hope they have a nice time here in Ireland. Missing my own family abroad this year. Love to everyone missing someone♡

  3. OMG I love ya. Its over 2 years, for me too, to not see my parents and they never met my 15 months old. Scared every day something going happen before they meet her. 🥺

  4. Exactly what Christmas means right here, fair play man, aint nothing wrapped in some x mass paper going to top that…

  5. Dad with hands on hips = there is litreally no worries in the world! Congrats and enjoy having your families together.

  6. That’s so beautiful! They seem like wonderful in-laws, hope you had a great Christmas all of you together, no doubt one to remember!

  7. This really brought a happy tear to my eye. My wife received some bad news health-wise last week and that, on top of some other things, have made this a rough Christmas. Seeing this happy scene honestly gave me a big lift just now. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Best present you could have given her mate, a new macbook pro or diamond earrings will never get that reaction.

  9. Fair play. That took serious work and massive heart. You did good by everyone and it’s a forever memory for yourselves and all. Living in Canada myself and haven’t been home for Xmas since I got here over a decade ago. With a Canadian wife and kid in the picture I always had an excuse. Be it work, can’t get time off, pandemic, cost. Your story here is kicking my ass into gear. I’m gonna make it happen.

    Merry Christmas to ye!
