Of all the pictures and videos that came out afterwards this had to be the most chilling for me.
I’m Irish and I’m proud to be Irish, but, the “real” IRA had no right to commit this act of mass murder and claim it was an act of war on behalf of Irish people, the target wasn’t a British intelligence office, it wasn’t an RUC barracks, it wasn’t a British army barracks, it wasn’t a British media office that was spreading false information or propaganda ….
It was a busy shopping street in the middle of the afternoon full of innocent people. Still makes me sick.
Scary stuff. Anyone know if the man and child in the first photo were victims of the blast?
If you recall correctly, the group phoned and alerted the authorities.
Now I checked it out, and the group really says that they’ve issued 3 warnings, with 40 minutes in between them. Authorities haven’t denied it either but called their statement ‘pathetic attempt to apologise for’. Nothing is there to defend such an attack but it sounds like the outcome was also largely on the authorities that haven’t acted on the warnings for some reason.
