Hello!
I’m a university student from Finland and I’ll spend my fall semester in Aarhus as an exchange student. I have a campervan and I’ve planned to live in it during my stay in Denmark. I’ve earlier made sure it is ok with the university. Well, as it turns out, the bureaucracy is never simple.
As a student studying medicine, I need to apply for CPR number. Within registration, you need to show a proof of a long-term residence in Denmark (rental contract or such). I spoke with citizen service of Aarhus about my situation and they told me it should be fine if I get a statement from a camping ground that I’ll spend most of my time in Denmark there. The problem is that the camping ground refuses to write such a statement. They told me it is illegal to live in a campervan in Denmark. Apparently, nowadays it can be legal but the process is quite muddy ([https://www.outdoor-camping.dk/fast-adresse-i-autocamper-bo-i-autocamper-hele-aret/](https://www.outdoor-camping.dk/fast-adresse-i-autocamper-bo-i-autocamper-hele-aret/)). It also requires that I register the campervan that I was initially not planning to do since I’ll stay in Denmark for just four months. In addition, it’s unclear whether the camping ground would agree to write the statement regardless of what I do.
In my situation, I think the easiest option would be to make a rental contract with someone with the intention to use the address for CPR but not actually living in the apartment. However, this is illegal.
I don’t know whether anyone has any good advice, I just needed to rant about all of this. I honestly thought that as I’m coming from Finland I wouldn’t have any problems with the paperwork…
