China calls on Lithuania to stop ‘pulling tricks’ as US and Brussels pledge solidarity

  1. If the Chinese are freaking out like this because of Lithuania, imagine their mental breakdown if all our states would have a spine and stand up to them properly.

  2. I think it’s difficult to stand against china alone for any single nation and many people don’t really care about china, because it’s kind of far away and mostly threatens other asian countries, but I think my country kind of gave opportunity for different nations to group together.

First of all it brings Chinese threats closer to home for western nations, supporting small country that is part of bigger western block just looks nicer

  3. I wish Brussels could help Lithuania, but how? Profit driven companies don’t care about morality or loyalty. They go where the money is.

Does the EU have any tools in it’s arsenal that could incentivize companies to stay in Lithuania?

  4. Lithuania is a perfect country to poke at China:

    1. Population has a historical grudge against repressive commie regimes.
    2. It produces no branded products that China could ban.
    3. It’s part of EU economic area, so no posible trade restrictions from China.

  5. Step by step China is breaking down democracy and rule of law in Hong Kong and if Taiwan is not properly defended China will do the same there. So, yeah, there is reason for concern if you are a Taiwan citizen who understands there is more to life than shopping and luxury brands.

  6. Don’t tell me this escalates like the ukraine boarder situation… Is that what russia and china spoke about? an all out division of the world?

  7. “We have warned the Lithuanian side that the attempt to pull tricks, shirk responsibilities and distort facts will not help solve the problem,”

And exactly what “responsibilities” does Lithuania have to sustain your country’s ego??

  8. China should know the history of Lithuania, how we were able to withstand the pressure and brutality from USSR and then put the last nail in their coffin. We in Baltics don’t feel fear of yet another Communist regime, we might as well do the same to them. China’s ‘wolf warrior diplomacy is turning on themselves, i believe soon enough EU will see how unsustainable is to have serious trade relationships with China, and maybe we will invests more resources in Taiwan, Vietnam and other East Asian countries.

  9. Amazing to watch China potentially nuking its relationship with the entire EU trading bloc over a country of 3 million people. Speaks volumes as to how increasingly deranged the regime is under Xi.

  10. Nothing says “mighty superpower” more clearly than hysterical, panicked screeching, when a tiny country with less then three million people says something that hurts your feelings.

    China is pathetic.

  11. If the EU truly possess at least one pair of balls, they should announce a boycott of China’s Winter Olympics next February in support of Lithuania, one of their member states.

I mean a complete boycott of athletes and diplomats, not just a diplomatic boycott whereby they let the athletes compete while the diplomats stay home – pure hypocrisy, wanting to have your cake and eat it.

But, alas, I doubt that will happen.

  12. I believe that I will never respect so much a country in the rest of my life as I respect Lithuania.

    And i’m not even European

  13. Seems China’s communists do think that the rest of the world are some kind of subjects under their control. Delusional.

  14. If the point is to push the EU and US together, then China’s wolf warrior diplomacy has been a smashing success.
