Russia says Europe missing out on gas with Nord Stream 2 delay

  1. Europe needs to get off Russian gas quickly! These manipulative pricks are not going to ever be a good partner.

  2. Europe is missing out on ‘Russian’ gas, but they are not the only supplier (only cheaper, mostly).

    [Source (in Dutch)](https://nos.nl/artikel/2410764-gasprijs-daalt-na-harde-stijging-lng-schepen-onderweg-naar-europa):
The gas price dropped from €180/MWh on tuesday to €106/MWh today, and some LNG carriers are on the way from the US.

    *I’m not very good at math, [Russian import (figure 4) is 170 + 110 + 0 + 45 = 325 Mm3/day](https://www.bruegel.org/publications/datasets/european-natural-gas-imports/), a big LNG carrier is 250,000 m3 (187.5 ‘standard’ Mm3/ship?).*

  3. The funny thing is we have now heard about every contradicting statement on this issue possible. The Germans keep saying NS2 does not increase the amount of gas, just a different route than NS1. How can we be missing out then? The media also simultaneously claim there is and there isn’t a shortage, with headlines saying Russia stopped the delivery but in the text it qualifies that deliveries were stopped because not more was ordered. The Russian narrative is that they’re doing just as ordered by the Europeans and claim not to be messing with them, but at the same time keep making threats.

The real stupidity is to rely on this whole construct for something as strategic as energy supply. A recipe for desaster.

  4. We need to stop being played like idiots. Open up the pipeline but use multiple sources. Start acting in the interest of Europe. Right now we are being played by the US in a trade war against Russia. It has no benefit to europeans. It’s incredibly sad to read comments from people believing that somehow Russia is horrible and the US is some savior. They all want a piece and all want us to play in their game. How about we assume all outside parties are trying to take advantage of Europe and then take decisions based on whats best for Europe.
