5G Availability by country

  1. [Source](https://www.speedtest.net/insights/blog/state-of-worldwide-5g-2021/)

The title may be a bit confusing, but it’s basically the percentage of people with a 5G device that spend most of their time on 5G.

    >The presence of 5G is only one indicator in a market, because even in markets where 5G has launched, coverage and adoption can be pretty low. We analyzed 5G Availability to see what percent of users on 5G-capable devices spent the majority of their time on 5G, both roaming and on-network during Q3 2021.

  2. Serious question: Why is the U.S. always so ahead of Europe technologically? Not to be rude, but Spotify is like the only European tech I can think of that I use. Even this website is a Yankee inventions. I’m not being rude, I’m being genuinely curious because I believe their resources are probably similar and Europe even has more people? I know the US has most of the best Unis but that can’t explain all of it. As someone who wants to become a programmer and emigrate I’m a curious person.

  3. Availability seems to be the magic word here and especially what coverage has to do with it. I think it’s T-Mobile that has this kind of pseudo 5G technology in use in US, that has a frequency that can be classified as 5G, but it’s on par with current 4G technology.

So just because something is advertised as 5G doesn’t mean it’s better. 5G isn’t the “next generation of G”. It has a higher frequency that can offer higher transfer speeds, but in practise a high end 4G network is much better than a bare bones 5G one.

  4. to be honest no mater wich country 5g is great and all but everything under 90% just means big citys 100k+ and dead zone if you go just a little rural

  5. The sad part about Germany is that 4G and 3G coverage, speed and quality does not seem to be much better. In many places outside large cities you get no reception at all.

  6. I have a 5G phone but don’t much benefit from taking a more expensive contract just to get my speed from 150 to 1000, as if it matters

  7. For me the problem with 5g is that it is more expensive than 4g in the Netherlands and I don’t see the real upside of it because the internet speed is already perfect for the things I do on my phone

  8. I still have to buy a 5G phone, but it looks like waste of money, new phones have barely any new upgrades and 4G is enough to watch 1080p videos

  9. I got an E connection for the first time in ages the other day and regularly have zero bars. In the UK.

Our network here (O2 anyway) is so shite. So much worse than the Netherlands lol.

  10. We dont have much of a comprehensive 5G system in Turkey I guess. The funny thing is that Professor Arıkan’s implementation of Polar coding caused the creation of the first 5G chip
