WHO rails against vaccine booster programs: “No country can boost its way out of the pandemic”

  1. This is really confusing. If boosting helps at all and doesn’t have any (or many side effects) why not do it?

  2. Just stop WHO

Governments are responsible for their own populations first and boosting does help avoid lockdowns

We can’t help other countries when we’re locked down pumping out social supports to closed businesses

  3. >He also said that, if second and third doses administered in wealthy countries had been more widely distributed elsewhere, the world would likely have seen global vaccination percentages above 40% — a target the WHO suggests could bring about the end of the acute threat of the pandemic.

40% feels like it would cause more variants.

  4. The WHO has zero credibility after basically admitting it lied and provided cover for China.

Absolutely shambolic and no idea how more heads didn’t roll.

  5. That’s why about a million expired vaccines are being destroyed in Nigeria. There are enough vaccines and donations, another issue is that in such countries there is poor organization and infrastructure for distribution as in South Africa.

  6. I am never going to believe a word the WHO says ever again. No evidence of human to human transmission they said as Covid was silently travelling into countries all over the world.

I was happy when my grandparents got their boosters.

  7. The only good thing D. Trump ever did in his life was pulling his country out of WHO and calling out Chinese bullshit on COVID.

Edit: And allowing Chileans to maintain visa-free access to U.S. 😊

  8. Didn’t Nigeria get like 4-5 million doses donated, only had like 100-200k people get vaccinated, then they destroyed them and said “no thanks” to getting more? I know Africa recording basically no covid with no vaccinations is a little uncomfortable for Tedros, but I’m not entirely sure what exactly the WHO aims to achieve by redirecting vaccines to places where nobody wants to get vaccinated.
