1. Invest more in digital infrastructure (especially A.I.)
2. Create Robots to do the work other people don’t like to do
3. ???
4. Profit
Often people do not have kids not because they hate kids or think that they can’t handle the responsibility. Often it comes down to simply financial decision. Having kids in Western world is not cheap. So given that government has direct and legitimate interest in preventing depopulation of the country, it should create sufficient financial incentives through tax breaks and other benefits to make having a kid much less of a burden.
Alternatively, it can make not having a kid more expensive by instituting financial penalties for those who don’t have kids. But that second option is sure to be much more controversial.
It can be augmented by immigration but when selecting potential candidates for immigration close attention has to be paid to those who have highest potential for assimilation. Which means cultural and religious compatibility. Nigerian Muslim would have lower chance of assimilation than Ukrainian Catholic.

still feel like people still dont quite grasp the situation here in germany. in a decade half the population (!) will be pensioneers. Thats not something a society can survive. I know I wont pay 60% of my wage for someone elses pension
And the solution to that would be to try and vacuum as much of the young and able from other countries as they can.
Within 100 years, most countries in the world will have the same problem, as fertility rate is plummeting fast due to urbanization (even in Africa)
Why would they, so that they can get chewed up and spit out by the capitalist machine when they are of no use anymore? Fuck that
Bu that is good, cheaper housing and less workers means workers are harder to exploit when there is not an endless supply of them.
Europe should start looking for alternatives.
This isn’t just a German problem, and sooner or later it will have catastrophic consequences.
I would say technological advances in areas like AI and automation might be part of the solution
I wonder if they would be open to repatriating people whose families left decades ago for the US? Many European Americans I know are highly educated and would much rather live the European life style than stay here in the USA.
state sponsored lovemaking is the answer, meine liebe Damen und Herren. Clamp down on netflix and all that tech that distracts from taking a trip to pound town
Southern europe still has a pretty high unemployment rate, if Germany needs workers it only needs to ask.
What about the 2 million Syrians impact?
Please don’t bring more immigrants/incomptabile refugees with such a different culture than ours.
Running of cheap labor = opening boarders/gates
Nothing about racism here, but we should find other sources of workers by increasing wages to attract more workers willing to do the job for a better pay, or by doing more innovation, being Lean or reducing waste etc.
When the average person can’t afford to have kids the fault is the state and the resources they provide and they have more than enough resources to help non-immigrants have 2 kids
Marx wasnt so wrong huh?
It’s not even just about the money. My friends who have kids tell me how hard it is to get a place for kindergarten nowadays.
Did i heard jobs?
Unfortunately it seems to be not only a problem for Germany but also for Europe and the rest of the world.
In other unrelated news, Balkan countries and Romania will shrink even faster, scientists don’t know why, lol
Ask 100.000 Filippinos if they want to come work. They’re hard workers.
I’m trying to bring my 30-year-old wife to Germany, we are eager to live here, but she can’t find jobs in her area and she doesn’t want to migrate without a job. It is sad, though.
Corporations may have to accept that continued growth isn’t possible, infinitely.
Who would have thought the Americanization of our local culture would bring forth such issues, lol.
This was obvious to happen when all an economy is baed upon is endless growth. First women are needed in the workforce, then people started to live work and career oriented lives and had no time or simply didn‘t want children or could not afford children, now we need immigrants to keep the economy running. Soon we will have a society extremely split between rich anf poor, and automation is also looming on the horizon, putting low wage work at risk as well. Then there is ‚The Great Reset‘, which aims at getting rid of things such as personal possession of any goods so you have to pay subscription fees to use a fucking toaster. Yeah, the future is looking really grim and dystopian from here, I think we took a wrong turn somewhere.
Enjoy the last few years of prosperity. Remember there is also a lot of other crisis on their way, like climate change and all the catastrophe that it brings.
