On this day in 1989, the Baltic Way occurred. About 2m people joined hands to form a 690 km long human chain across the three Baltic states. They were denouncing the Nazi-Soviet Pact that was signed on this same day in 1939 and led to the occupation of their countries by the Soviets

  1. The Soviet police nearby must’ve had the most awkward day of their lives.

  2. Today people comment on the internet about it…o tempora…

  3. I’m wondering how did they organize it. Gathering 2m people to form a 690km long human chain must have been difficult as there was no internet back then. I’m guessing radio or/and TV helped with organizing?

  4. As a thank you, the Soviet rapists gunned down 14 Lithuanian civilians in January 1991.

  5. But tankies on Reddit tell me the USSR was great and everyone misses it?
