  1. Because various Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil Housing Ministers have refused to take on short let companies like Air BNB and also refuse to bring in a vacant property tax as their ever dwindling supporter base won’t like that.

  4. Guessing a lot of people who have commented did not read the article. And the article is much better than I thought it would be based on the headline.

  5. We have x amount of TDs who are declared landlords. We have untold amounts who have second and third properties registered in their partners or siblings names so as to avoid having to declare.
    There’s the problem.
    If we expect a government packed with landlords to fix the situation that purely benefits landlords, we’re on a hiding to nothing.
    They benefit hugely from the current situation. It’s not in their interests at all to fix any of it.
