Well, Russian lives don’t matter to Vladimir Putin in the first place.

These “anti imperialist” westerners with their hot takes sound like they collectively suffer from some form of serious brain damage. They’re not even anti-imperialist, just anti-american or in many cases deluded pacifists who think they’ll solve Russian totally-not-imperialism by being nice to them.
Russian lives do matter, and the fastest way to save them is to return to 1991 borders.

1. Some absolute principles (lifes do matter) do fail in some context (takind lifes to save lifes).
2. Defending is not same as warmongering.
3. Is the guy consistent in his statments? What about ukrainian lifes? Can those be saved without taking russian ones?
4. What’s problem with killing those who came to kill?
How convenient that the countless thousands of lives lost so far because of Putin didn’t matter, but now the Russian regime is slowly losing its war all of a sudden Russian lives matter.
Well here is a not-so-well-kept secret Lars: Russian lives don’t matter – *at all*. Not to Putin, not to his regime, and not to his followers who gladly give their sons over to the pointless killing machine that is Russian imperialism. What a spineless and intellectually dishonest person you would have to be to make such a stupid, ugly statement as that.

Sure they do. But right now, russian lives are attacking ukrainian lives and people with a functional moral compass know which of these to support.
You can’t have it both ways, Lars.
You can’t say I’m against imperialist war but also don’t send weapon to Ukraine because the imperialists are dying.
If you are anti-imperialist, then you want Russia’s invading military force crushed as soon as possible, so fewer lives are thrown into the grinder.
Otherwise, you are just trying to take a moral highground of saying “war bad” by ignoring reality and favoring the invading force.
This is the typical pro-Russian communist party stance: “We are against the war but also don’t send weapons to Ukraine” with the subtext: so that the defending nation gets crushed and taken over quickly so that we don’t have to keep up this idiotic paradox.

True leftish anti-imperialists as myself are angry indeed, angry that we havent been aggressively arming Ukraine to annihilate every Russian asset across the Ukrainian border. Instead the US has chosen to play the big power dialogue and favour a grindfest at the front – that’s pretty inmoral too

I might he looking for an icecube in the Sahara here, but am struggling to understand why he would appeal to Zelensky first that Ru lives matter too – they are bombing the people he is representing and tried to assassinate him in the first days of the invasion. I think he is the last person to give a rat’s ass about any occupier’s life.
He at least mentioned Putin, but after Zelensky. Motherfucker, Putin started the war, why don’t you ask him to stop?

They do, but not to their leaders unfortunately. The best way to save Russian lives is to end this war ASAP, and the only acceptable way to end this war is to have Ukraine win it.
I wish I could ask such people why they think providing Ukraine with weapons is warmongering, while they ignore (don’t speak up about) Russian soldiers crossing borders and shelling Ukrainian troops on their own land.
