Any D&D players here? So I have been planning a D&D world based on Iron Age/Kalevala Finland for a long time now. There have been so many ideas that there would be enough for a setting book. So the idea is to write a book describing the world (which is naturally based on the traditional Finnish worldview, i.e. a flat world and a domed sky revolve around the North Star), its inhabitants, Finnish monsters and other creatures, culture, gods, and much more. From these, game masters around the world could draw inspiration for their own games
In summary, the book would enable playing in a world that is strongly inspired by Finnish mythology. The gods for example are Ukko, Tapio and others straight from Finnish folklore. Väinämöinen can be seen sailing on the sea towards new adventures. The forests are full of creatures like Hiisi, Maahinen, and Aarnivalkea, and players can engage in a cunning battle against the great Kokko-bird itself
But then to the point itself, i.e. I would be interested in printing physical books in addition to PDFs, which of course costs some money. In addition, especially the pictures for the book cost some money, so funding for this should be found somewhere. So what I’m trying to ask is if r/ Finns would be ready to support the project, e.g. on kickstarter. I thought I’d survey the public opinion a bit before I start ordering promo images and putting some kind of presentation on kickstarter.
