There’s a long and fascinating history of that kind of gear being worn at Pride, going back to the earliest days of the Gay Rights movement, so I suspect the artist was going for accuracy here, but definitely a misjudgement in a kid’s book and I’m surprised it made it to publication (and actually given the amount of media scrutiny this book has already had I’m astonished that nobody’s complained about this image already).
