I called a week ago about an apartment to rent and the woman told me it’s “varattu”. I kept thinking to myself how does it even work like that? Never heard of it before. So i did a little test and opened the next day an fake Email with a finnish name and surname, i sent an email asking if the apartment was free and got the reply back that the apartment is free and if i would like to go see it…. Is this normal? Because in Germany this would be against the law. Im confused

  1. It is also against the law in Finland, but racism is alive and well.

  2. You should email them again from your own account to see if the reply has changed. It’s always possible that previously the apartment had been reserved for someone and then they cancelled the reservation.
