Getting policy from a county council is like getting music from karaoke night down the pub. They’re exclusively populated by people too incompetent to become TDs, and that’s saying something.
Is there a process similar to the SHD/LRD for renewable energy?
The irony of denying green energy to preserve a green belt.
Looks like farmland off the Cork Waterford road. Not far from Whitegate.
Hardly The Burren.
“Residents of the townlands voiced their objections to any and all development which altered the view from back kitchens and front parlours with the exception of bungalows built without planning permission” /s
As someone living in the county this is so disspointing. They won’t let us build houses in the area because it’s not good for the climate. But they won’t let us build renewable power plants there because it’s not good for the character of the region.
And they’re fine with monoculture grass fields to rear cattle on so in reality they couldn’t give a shit about the climate or biodiversity. They’re also fine with the big dirty quarry near the proposed site.
I guess the character of the area is a backwards-thinking kip.
I live in the area and can’t understand how this will have any effect on someone’s life. The bloody refinery is there and yet people have no problem with that 🙄. A missed opportunity I feel.
This is disappointing.
On a more positive note, solar farms are apparently about to start booming here in the next year. Our total capacity will double in a year and continue to grow.
