Why am I given the right of way?

  1. Needs more context. Who/where are you, where are you going, and who is giving you right of way?

  2. Assuming you are the cyclist: Politeness, because you do not actually have right of way

  3. Actual answer: they have shark’s teeth(little triangles) on the ground (your circle makes it hard to see) which means they have to give way to the cars. If those triangles point at you from the street you have to give way as well.

  4. If you’re the cyclist you see shark teeth pointing in your direction, which means you have to give way. So cars have right of way on the cyclist in the bike path. If motorist give the right of way, they are being nice

  5. This is a very strange situation, why did they make this interrupted lines on the street? Are they afraid that a cyclist would lose his directions while crossing a street, and you have this stop sign, you have to stop for cars but you don’t have to stop for a cyclist?

  6. I usually stop for people on feet or bycicle, maybe they do too

  7. who is the I?
    are you the biker?

    are you a pedestrian?

are you a auto mobile driver?

  8. Because cyclists constantly do dumb shit and put themselves in danger but drivers have learned to be cautious for two reasons:

    1. Most people don’t want to kill someone on the road every time they go out.
    2. Insurance/law will almost always side with the cyclist unless they were undeniably at fault and nobody wants to get in that legal trouble.
