We made a mistake and must admit it – Italian Prime Minister on West’s reaction to Russian occupation of Crimea

    In her speech during the Crimean Platform summit, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni assured Ukraine of her support and called the West’s response to Russia’s aggression in 2014 erroneous and insufficient.

    **Details:** Meloni noted that Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 was a clear violation of international law and an attempt to pursue Russian aggressive intentions towards the whole of Ukraine.

    “Back in 2014, Western countries did not fully understand the scale of what was happening and perhaps hoped that Moscow’s imperialist ambitions would cease there.

    We made a mistake and must admit it,” said Giorgia Meloni.

    “Today, we do not hesitate to stand side by side with you. And today, we are here to reiterate that Russia must stop its aggressive policy and withdraw its forces. We will never get tired of working to end the war and achieve a just and lasting peace,” she added.

    Meloni noted that Italy is ready to assist in rebuilding Ukraine and will host the Ukraine Recovery Conference in 2025.

    “The future of Ukraine is the future of peace, freedom and prosperity. It is the future of a territorially integral Ukraine in a common European family. For your heroic resistance is also our battle for democracy. And your freedom is the freedom of the whole of Europe,” summed up Giorgia Meloni.

    French President[ Emmanuel Macron](https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2023/08/23/7416810/) and[ Annalena Baerbock](https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2023/08/23/7416827/), German Foreign Minister, stressed that their countries do not recognise Russia’s annexation of the occupied territories of Ukraine.

    And our leaders were ready to again not give a shit had putin succeeded in taking kyiv in 3 days / had Zelensky ran off.

    They are continuing to make the same mistake today, by not putting a stop to this bullshit. Stop talking, start acting.

  7. They made a mistake no shit all of Ukraine must be returned and reperpations must be made to all of Ukraine and civilians alike can’t put a price on families that are devastated by personal property and dead family members it’s a massive debt owed to Ukraine
