This is what happens after 40 plus years of servitude to a foreign president, commission, parliament, court and all of their decentralised agencies. It takes years for a once free soverign nation state to relearn how to govern themselves. Ask those countries from the old USSR and the British Empire how long it has taken them to get where they are now.
In a move that shocks absolutely no one who’s been paying attention.
They’ve left us in a position where we *can’t* do things like checks without causing so much disruption and price increases to goods that it’ll ripple on through the rest of the economy.
Its genuinely quite embarrassing and I’m pretty sure its mostly the fact Brexiters don’t pay attention to these kinds of details that has stopped this being more of a scandal.
Wow, I’d hate to see the deals and procedures the government makes which aren’t “oven-ready.”
A country votes to take back control and finds it can’t fully take back control without completely fucking itself.
Funny how the EU were able to take full control of their side of the border the day that we left.
This could all be sorted out if some competent, uncorrupt, professional and experienced adults where put in charge of Brexit.
It would amaze me if any of the Tories can even remember when the vote was, who was prime minister and what the winning percentage was.
People bang on about a red bus but the tories probably can’t even recall a red bus. Far too busy doing nothing, lying and stealing.
It’s amazing how the only way to make brexit work and not cripple the country…is to reverse it completely. We can keep boasting about selling jammy dodgers to mali or ginsters to Nauru, but it’s not even funny
The year is 3685 and the annual delay to post Brexit checks festival is in full swing. No one knows how this tradition started but it thought to be one of the most ancient festivals in the Church of Brexit’s calendar.
The idea that this is to stop inflation is a bit overplayed in my opinion. (am customs agent)
The cost of certificates and inspections isn’t really going to top £150 for a truck. Spread across all the goods in that truck, it shouldn’t impact prices that much.
Lets use grapes as an example because that’s what I have infront of me.
£30k for a truck full of grapes from Spain. Add the £150 and that’s a 0.5% increase. Mileage may vary depending on the goods but you get my point, while any increase is obviously not ideal it’s not that significant compared to existing levels of inflation.

I think this is more about kicking the can down the road until it becomes Labours problem, then the Tories can put on their best wojak faces and point at ‘the terrible state of things now that Labour are in charge’
