America has astronauts, Russia has cosmonauts, China has taikonauts – what would we call Irish spacemen?

  1. I think the European Space Agency uses astronaut as well, so we’d probably just go with that.

  2. Spásairí or Reannátaigh seem good to me, where reann is a nice old word that means both star and planet or any other heavenly body.

    Wrong answers are also welcome.

  3. Didn’t Brendan Grace have a joke about this in a version of the ancient going to the sun at night gag I’m a spacer and the young lad is a trainee he’s only a space cadet

  4. Ineptus AhSureDontGetMeStarteds, republican space marines.
