  1. Good thing the young lad had the head and the courage to do this. He is lucky and I hope he was well received by Ukraine.

  2. The pilot’s military unit is located at the Chernihivka airfield of the Primorsky Krai of the Russian Federation (military unit 13984).

From the very beginning, the officer “understood the criminality and injustice of the war unleashed by his aggressive state.”

Operation of the Ukrainian Intelligence Service, codenamed “Tit”, was very similar to operation “Diamond”, which was carried out in 1966 by the Israeli Mossad, convincing an Iraqi pilot to steal the most modern Soviet MiG-21 at the time.

  3. I do find it interesting that no pics show the front of the chopper, which the Russians claim is full of bullet holes. I’d like to see the front.

  4. If only there were more Russians like him.

Next time, a defecting Russian pilot with the SU-57 or KA-52, please ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

  5. They say the 2 passengers were shot trying to run and defend themselves once they realized what was happening. I believe the pilot shot them and they were DOA

  6. The headline is incorrect: young smart rich Russian pilot!

Half a million $ to start his new life — wicked smaaat!

    😁

  7. Let’s not forget that the russian pilot got paid quite well for this by Ukraine. It’s still nothing compared to the value of the helicopter, but still he probably did do it for money primaraly. Given that has two comrades have been killed, it’s a bit fishy maybe he didn’t wanna share?
Sorry for the speculations, but I generally mistrust russians especially the military guys. You don’t become a helicopter pilot in a dictatorship while having secretly a courageous freedom fighter mindset. Also who knows how many lives he has taken.
I’m glad he surrendered and all, but I think one should be hesitant to applaud to loudly for this guy.

  8. The balls on that Russian pilot. I don’t think it can be overstated how much courage it takes to go against the tide of history.
