  1. In anticipation of major Tory losses during the next election, the gov. have decided to double payments for MPs for losing their seats as a final cash grab, before moving on to their send job as an executive director

  2. Interesting timing, appearing on the BBC website at 01:30 in the middle of the night.

  3. I believe that MPs aren’t paid enough but stick with this proposal.

£250k a year net. Inflation linked.

£150k a year pension again net inflation linked for 10 years maybe longer. Scrutiny akin to probation and withdrawal of pension/jail as deterrent for non compliance.

    However.

No second jobs at all . No directorships and no investments while an an MP and for 10 years or longer after.

Total public transparency of finances during time in the house and after.

The amounts may even need to be higher but would it not be cheaper to do this than have contracts awarded and favours given for reward that ultimately cost the taxpayer an order of magnitude vastly greater than the money I have suggested?
