  1. Is Malta in such a need for housing that apartment blocks are constantly being built?

I’ve stayed on Gozo for 5 days and I’ve walked a lot during those days but a lot of houses and most apartment blocks were mainly empty.

  2. PLEASE SHARE: This post is to raise awareness. Malta is currently experiencing a construction boom and no land is being spared, not even land in sensitive locations. At the moment, an apartment building is being proposed and pushed forward by a couple of developers in an area which is very archeologically sensitive, being about 200 metres away from the precious Ggantija temples which are amongst the oldest standing structures in the world. It is a UNESCO world heritage site, but the government still needs to install a much-promised and much-needed buffer zone around sensitive sites and thus the developers are trying to rush the application. The applications entails excavation of this sensitive site as well as the construction of a monstrous block of apartments that will ruin the Ggantija skyline.

Environmental NGOs have been protesting, but still not much is being done by authorities to deter such shameful applications.
