That’s most of the Guardian’s readership fucked then
Good.
Ironic that the EU isn’t quite integrated enough to spare people this awful inconvenience.

Stay petty, France. Stay petty.
However, it could also be a continuation of that ridiculous Anglo-French tragicomedy “Give us more fishing rights” and that is just a new act.
Seems weird to be worried about Brits spreading covid to France. That ship has well and truly sailed?
Those you didn’t support Brexit, do you truly think this is a sensible thing, putting bias aside?
Alternate headline: Brexit brings Britons’ 2nd homes to market.

Am I reading the article incorrectly? Because to me it clearly says Britons with homes in EU **can** drive though France to get there, according to French government sources cited in the article.
>According to the French travel guidance, “nationals of the European Union or equivalent”, as well as their partners and children, “who have their main residence in France or who join, in transit through France, their main residence in a country of the European Union” are considered to have a compelling reason for travelling from the UK through France.
>
>According to French officials, British citizens who have a residence in another EU country, such as Belgium, Germany, Spain or Italy, will be required to show proof of their residence, such as a residency permit, tax forms or utility bills.
It’s just one announcement from Eurotunnel that seems to contradict official French Government communications. And the Guardian earning a lot of views and clicks exactly because everyone is overreacting like in this very thread.
[edit] I missed the “main” as in “main residence” – that’s probably where the pain is. I understand it better now.
It’s fine by me, no one from outside the EU should own property within the borders. Get fucked.
Sigh… Those immigrants… /s
If I read it correctly, Brittons with a house in the EU CAN drive through France, they just need to have proof of residency.
Another Brexit paper making fun headlines.
Those illegal migrants from Britain should stay out, the days of British Empire are over. Frontex might need to be deployed to defend our shores.
Yes, from France’s point of view, Britons are on a par with Bosnians, Pakistanis or Sudanese, and the same rules apply.

Cases are even higher in France than the UK so why bother with the ridiculous travel ban now?

Awww brexit isn’t working out well for them is it?
The perks of brexit.
Hurrah, Nigel Farrage
it it the responsibility of france to guard outside border of the EU. Thats’s what they do
Let’s go France! Go!
Get those bloody foreigners out of my Union! /s
France is like Gandalf protection EU from Brits Orc.
*Mais, non!*
*Alors…*
The amusing thing is that this will affect almost only people who voted to Remain.
The headline is clickbait, and incorrect.
I live in NL with my British girlfriend, we drove from the UK back to Utrecht literally yesterday, and there was no problem at all whatsoever. She didn´t even have to show her resident card, just passport and vaccination-proof.
This is the problem with mis/disinformation… even if it´s happened partially, no fact-checking nor anything that can verify the author.
Gosh darn it. I hate when the well-to-do are slightly inconvenienced for the sake of public safety.
