  1. Excerpt:

Rather than sweeping the suspect deals under the carpet, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy launched a major crackdown, in a bid to show allies in the U.S. and EU that Ukraine is making a clean break from the past.

  2. Slowly the Ukrainians are getting rid of their own garbage as well as the invasive garbage….. This **has** to be applauded.

  3. Some people will use stories like this to say “see, Ukraine is corrupt”. However, we never see stories like this coming out of Muscovy. Ukraine is shining a light on the corruption and weeding it the fuck out. That is exactly what they should be doing, and in many cases, the West could learn a lesson or two from how Ukraine is dealing with corruption.

  4. The politico.eu article references a much more complete report from NABU that has an accompanying chart showing exactly how the scam worked.

Food for civilians, food for the military purchased at inflated prices, the difference lining individual pockets.

  5. There is a whole lot of cleaning up to do in Ukraine. This will be a lasting contribution of Zelensky’s leadership and Ukraine will be a better, stronger, and more prosperous country for it.

Now to get rid of the Russian filth…

  6. The key word here is “Uncovers”. As opposed to “Swept under the rug”.

It’s proof that Ukraine is doing something about its corruption issues.

  7. You have to be a piece of shit to misdirect funds for fkn food for your countrymen as the enemy is targeting food stores.

Not a unique target for corruption as this occurs all over the world, but gd.

  8. Corruption happens in every country, all the time. If its mere presence were enough to condemn a nation, none of us would ever dare speak for shame.

What matters more is how you respond to it. Ukraine is actually doing quite well in this regard. Revelations like this one trouble me little. As someone who is far from Ukraine, I am not directly affected, and it doesn’t shake my conviction in the slightest that Ukraine is an ally worth standing behind in their time of trial.

  9. Corruption is democracies cancer. Ukrainians should be proud of the change they are making

  10. Send those fuckers to the front line. Send all the corrupt motherfuckers there

  11. Maybe they would do better work as sappers. Then they could redeem themselves with honorable work and pay back their debts to Ukraine.

  12. The people in my country who say “Ukraine is corrupt” as a reason not to provide aid are also the **absolute biggest supporters of corruption and fascism** in the internal politics of my county. Ironic how that works out.
