Luxury gyms are always going to be a hard sell to the masses and only really appeal to a certain section of society. They can’t really offer much on top of what the budget chains do.
im not the gym type, but yeah you need to go REALLY top end with this.
People who want to spend extra money on fitness are more likely to a get a trainer or equipment at home.
This feels to me a play for “there will only ever be ultra wealthy people here, expect for a few staff, who we under pay and wont ever talk to you, if you dont want them to”
Luxury gyms?
I thought all really wealthy people had their own “gyms” at home, its way more comfortable anyways
Moderate gyms suit most people just fine and the super rich will have their own private gym. The market for a luxury gym is rather small and when people are looking to cut costs as bills go up, downgrading their gym is going to be one of the first things people do. It does not help that gyms work on the model that a lot of people will sign up and rarely/never go. When those people cancel their membership, any gym will struggle to stay afloat.
Interesting that Third Space didn’t get a mention since they are more expensive than Gymbox. I think they are less expensive than Equinox. The Canary Wharf gym is huge and always seems to be very busy. I am surprised at Gymbox though because sometimes they are so busy it is almost impossible to book a class there. I think the price increases over the last year or so due to energy costs have hit them hard and wfh also because people are simply not around the office to nip in straight after work.
