Hello all, I apologize for my first post here being but I’ve been wracking my brain over this. A friend of mine works in a Catholic parish that was historically German-American, and when cleaning yesterday came across some letters in a closet. Most of the letters were in English and addressed to people living in our state of Minnesota, but this one stood out.

The letter is written in cursive and dates to maybe the 1940’s, written by someone named “Joachim Lier(?)” from Verdun addressing his family. Our german isn’t exactly passing and Joachim’s cursive isn’t doing us any favors. Could anyone here try to translate this?
