Lesbian wedding was organized in Kharkiv
🏳️🌈 A lesbian wedding was organized in #Kharkiv.
This celebration is a performance, one of the events of #KharkivPride2023.
With it, the #LGBTQIA community wants to highlight that #Ukraine doesn't recognize same-sex marriages. pic.twitter.com/bkO6psjDcx

Congratulations to them and my they have a long and happy life together. Yes Ukraine is at war, however; it is nice to escape that for a moment of happiness.
Hopefully same sex unions will be entrenched in law soon.

May they have peace in their lives.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Towards the day when a Lesbian wedding in Ukraine or anywhere in the World will not be news but commonplace.
Sadly the news is the cause of much hurt and bigotry in the world. When people realise we are all just human beings and nothing else matters then the world will be able to heal. I wish the happy couple a bright future 👍
# History first, opinions after:
Marriage began as an exchange of female family members to prevent war. At that time there was a strong taboo against war against one’s own blood. Thus, interbreeding between families was a guarantee of peace.
Marriage in Europe for the past 1,500 years has usually been little more than a declaration. Then, in the late 1700s, it became a contractual obligation of exclusive parentage. This was in response to the French Revolution (but I won’t go into detail as that could fill volumes).
It was constantly used as a tool to control and limit women. But in the last century, marriage became an instrument of liberation from this very thing. Thus, LGBTQ+ marriage is a powerful sign of liberation for those who want freedom. This means that anyone who wants to have a choice without government approval can support it.
Marriage is nothing more than a contractual obligation to declare exclusivity. That is: making sure the world knows that two people are now a couple. But it is also widely considered a beautiful expression of love. This is official love.
# And now my opinions on the above:
If these two really announced their marriage, we should consider it valid. For the government to fail to validate marriage means the government controls who can or cannot feel certain things. This is preposterous!
The government should create a register of contracts. The state should not decide who is entitled to contractual recognition of love. Record keeping, not influence.
Plus, I would guess Putin’s news would be so confused by it that they would report on that, rather than on drones destroying munitions storage areas in Moscow.
Слава Україні!
Congratulations on the wedding!!!!
This is freedom. Freedom to love. This is why I support Ukraine. Awesom.
Amazing
Congratulations!
Horrible title.
They don’t say the straights got married. How about marriage or two women who live each other?
