Hallo!
I was shopping in a department store the other day looking for a Swiss Army Knife for hiking.
I saw the [Victorinox Soldier’s Knife \(classic Swiss Army Knife\)](https://www.victorinox.com/de/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Large-Pocket-Knives/Swiss-Soldier%27s-Knife-08/p/0.8461.MWCH), and noticed their little disclaimer online –
“IMPORTANT NOTICE
Carrying knives in Germany is subject to special legal requirements and restrictions. This applies in particular to the carrying of one-hand knives and fixed knives with a blade length of more than 12 cm.”
Apparently, any knife in Germany with a fixed blade and can be opened with one hand — like the main blade on the Victorinox Soldier’s Knife — is illegal.
Can anyone enlighten me on how often that’s enforced? Surely something that’s being sold openly in a Kaufhaus should be fine to purchase?
