I was driving past one of these speed cameras at night, when I noticed that my speedo showed close to 120. a road sign before showed a maximum allowed speed of 100. do I see a flash when driving past these cameras, or is it invisible?

You will see a flash with these, but most of the times there’s no camera inside. So even if you sped past the box, no flash due to no camera.
Yes, you see a flash that you can´t mistake, especially at night. Not every speed camera has the camera in use/ or in place.
I think some are just for scaring you. You will know when you get a ticket trust me. It will flash.
Not all posts have the actual camera inside them, and they switch the camera locations seldomly. So you would have been flashed if the box had had the camera inside.
You can see if the camera is inside when driving past. There’s an anti-glare thing in one of the holes for the flash and if there’s no camera, you can see through the hole and see the back of the metal box
