Hæ Icelanders, I’ve recently acquired a lopi hooded cardigan from a pal who bought it in Iceland a while ago – no one told me how itchy it would be! It has a few bobbles and feels very dry, is there a safe way to make the wool s bit softer and give it a “tidy up” so that it’s in the best condition? I was considering putting it in a warm bath with a bit of baby shampoo, letting it soak then giving it a wee rub down before letting it air dry (difficult when you live in Scotland..). Am I able to put any sort of fabric conditioner in the water once washed to make it s bit more bearable? And if anyone knows how I can ‘calm down’ the loose fibres as well that would be most appreciated.
I have watched a video by Héléne Magnússon and done s bit of googling but I thought it may be best to come straight to some genuine Icelandic folk.
Side note, I know/learn a few languages – I’ve just gotten fairly competent with Danish so have started Icelandic. One of the first words I learned was hrútspungar..I’m unsure what this says about your land but I can’t wait to try some one day.
