>Ukraine has developed a new missile, a high-precision missile, the first public use of which was the destruction of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile complex of the Rashists in the still-occupied Crimea on Cape Tarkhankut near Olenivka.
>The video published by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from a classified drone recorded the destruction of two launch complexes at once, resulting in the detonation of anti-aircraft missiles. And the second explosion, with a high degree of probability, already led to the damage of other S-400 machines.
>And, of course, the question remained as to what exactly caused such a highly accurate and effective blow. And the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov lifted the veil of secrecy a little.
>”The missile was new. The missile was completely modern. Its use proved that our defense-industrial complex, our program, which was launched in 2020. By the way, I remind those who told us about preparations for war. So, in 2020 In 2018, the NSDC decision was made regarding the weapons processes, not all of them were open and therefore the society could not know about certain things. That is, yes, this is a new product that showed itself flawlessly,” said Oleksiy Danilov.
>He made this statement on the air of Ukrainian Radio, on a recording from 06:18:
>Prior to that, there was already unofficial information that the blow was inflicted by an anti-ship missile “Neptune”, which was adapted for strikes against ground targets. The latter is quite possible due to the fact that there were already plans for such a development during its creation. And it is quite possible to implement this on existing technologies, because Harpoon in the Block II version also has such possibilities.
>At the same time, researchers are worried that it could be Brimstone 2, which was installed on a speedboat. The occupiers could have been led to this opinion by the operation of GUR fighters the next day with a landing in the same area. But the words of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council remove the version regarding Brimstone 2.
>It is also important to pay attention to the impact itself, which may hint at certain capabilities of the missile itself. More precisely – its guidance system. Considering that the strike was accompanied by a drone, it is possible to assume that it played the role of a target pointer.
>At the same time, the mark of the optical sighting station is located on the central machine, most likely the S-400 complex radar. That is, the UAV did not illuminate the target with a laser beam. Also, due to the defeat of the launcher itself, and not the radar, it is possible to exclude the passive radar seeker.
>Thermal imaging and radar remain among the guidance systems. Considering the fact that we are talking about Ukrainian development, the last option is the most likely. Especially since the S-300 or S-400 type launcher has a rather characteristic radar signature.
>At the same time, it should not be forgotten that some Ukrainian developments in the field of rockets demonstrated quite high accuracy even in the case of using only satellite and inertial navigation systems. For example, “Vilkha”:
>Also, on the video, it is possible to notice a fairly large primary explosion, the flame of which engulfs two S-400 launchers at once. That is, we are talking about a fairly large-sized warhead of the high-explosive fragmentation type.
>And this already means that we are talking about a “big” missile, which directly speaks about the flight range. Under these conditions, it should be about 130 km from the nearest point of the front, to which it is still necessary to add 10-20 km, or about 180 km, if we take the Odesa region as the starting point.
>In this way, we will get a fairly long-range weapon that doubles the capabilities of GMLRS in HIMARS, while ensuring similar accuracy. And this already means new and rather interesting opportunities for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to destroy the enemy even in his far rear. At the same time, not only in the occupied territory.
Very interesting article. The sub-headline is delightful:
>The possibilities of the new Ukrainian missile, given the published data, are more than interesting, and **the main thing is that it is a Ukrainian development that is not subject to any restrictions**
слава Україні!
This must be what they mean when they said they can strike anywhere in Crimea now.
russia has had decades to develop weapons and aren’t able to destroy western anti-air systems, meanwhile Ukraine develops new weapons within a year of being at war and just destroys the best russia has to offer lol
It’s hardly surprising that Ukrainian engineers have developed their own missile systems. They were heavily involved in designing and building systems for the Soviet space program.
Next stop…the Moon. Well, why not (•‿•)
Hell yeah. Bring the rain.
wont give ukraine ATACMS, they’ll make their missiles instead.
That’s God Speed in advanced weapon development. Go, Ukraine Go!
Russia is so fucked. Ukraine is turning into an arms superpower due to this invasion and I love it when they get to field test thier new toys on important targets.
Any chance this was the modifies Neptune missile they were working on? I thought they were working on one capable of ground strikes.
