Yes, was confused too but another person on this sub got the same email
Yes
Yes, got the sms this morning too
The post office would send you a letter, not an SMS
It is a scam. Malta Post has never sent me an SMS about a package – always a letter (which does not always get delivered but that is another story).
If you are expecting a parcel and have the tracking number, go to Malta Post tracking page https://www.maltapost.com/tracking#/tracking
and enter the tracking number. If there is any action to be taken, then the tracking page will tell you.
Yes
Git this too and my phone blocked it
Never react to any sms or emails which does not specify in detail. Also never pay anything by credit card if they ask for payment for the shipping fee of 2 euros etc.
A lot of scammers from non eu and some even inside eu, are using this form of communication to get people to sign up for a recurring subscription. It means you pay only 2 euros yourself thinking it is a legitimate payment towards a service, using your 3D secure approval. Once you do that, the payment providers can charge your card without asking for verification of each transaction.
I work with the payment industry and unfortunately the scammers simply provide legit landing pages and sites, just to change it after to brand abuse, misleading information, and other incentives to obtain the first payment.
You can always get a refund from your bank by doing a chargeback but it is a hassle.
The people using this method count on people not realizing the second charge and not being able to complain easily.
I am not proud to say but I used to be a part of this circle, closing our eyes to what seemingly was going on, knowing we had our legal parts in order, and following visa/Mastercard requirements.
I am now actually brainstorming on a new way to make it super easy and safe for vulnerable individuals to get verification fast in relation to doubts of any media communication received.
It is a tricky one though and would probably need to involve government assistance.
Clue 1: Malta post doesn’t have your number so why would they message you
Clue 3: if you’re not expecting a package, do you believe Father Christmas is visiting early this year?
All joking aside as some people do indeed receive unexpected packages (lucky them!) so clue 3 is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but just stop and think before you click any link sent to you (as you did) no matter if it’s sms, messenger, or email. If it’s unsolicited, then it’s spam, even more when it doesn’t include your name.
yep i receaved it yesterday and i acidently pressed the link but thank goodness i didnt write anything glad i saw this post
Obviously
Yes , i received it and they tried to pull €20, thankfully revolut flagged it.
Did anyone in malta NOT get this. Seems like a matter for the police…. If they’re not all busy randomly stopping cars in Floriana.
