Italy makes outdoor mask wearing compulsory

  1. Absolutely ridiculous and completely pointless but not surprising in the least. It’s also hilarious watching the strictest countries breaking their case records day in, day out, flailing about in a sisyphean attempt to “control” and “fight” the virus and failing spectacularly.

Makes you wonder how long they’ll continue with this, 2022 is a write-off for sure – will be hilarious to witness the same old lines trotted out for the SuperOmiDelta+ variant in the winter of 2022 and for every variant beyond that. Guessing this will be like the War on Terror and the War on Drugs, an endless fight against an unstoppable and uncontrollable opponent with a side order of screwing over and making life hell for as many people as possible.

  2. Why? Outdoor transmission of covid isn’t really a thing. This has been known for more than a year now. Indoors is fine – outdoors is silly.

  3. Outdoor masks don’t make sense to me. The droplets they’re suppose to stop from accumulating can’t accumulate in open air.

They may stop the odd spit that flies out when you talk and breathe, but does that matter when you’re outside and some distance away from people?

The measure is disproportionally intrusive for how little effect it should have. And it legitimizes people who ignore restrictions by being an unreasonable and illogical restriction.

  4. Trash policy only to make it seem that they are doing something. Something which has 0 effect in real life.
