I’m pretty desperately looking for a flat for 2 weeks. I encountered 2 “overenthusiastic” agents in the last 3 days. The appointments were very similar. We met in person, they showed us their places, tried to “sell” them to hype us. Everything was too good to be true. Other than that – they exhibited typical scammer behavior. They wanted to us to pay them everything upfront – 1st month rent and 2 months rental guarantee without lease, etc. They concentrated on explaining, how we have to trust them, how our money is safe with them, etc. So many red flags.
Although I checked them on [https://www.ipi.be/](https://www.ipi.be/), and they seemed legit – registered real estate agents.
How they are going away with scamming people? Are they renting flats from other, just for scam? I can’t imagine that I’ve encountered 2 identify thieves in such a short span. And – to be honest – they could earn a lot more money with false identity. It doesn’t make sense – so much hassle for 3k euro?
