Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, located just east of Edmonton, serves as a living museum that takes you back in time to experience the life of early Ukrainian pioneers in Alberta. Covering the years 1892 to 1930, the village features more than 30 restored historic buildings, including churches, schools, and homes. Visitors can explore the vibrant history and culture through interactive exhibits and activities, offering a genuine glimpse into the hardships and triumphs of these early settlers. The village doesn’t just display history; it brings it to life, right down to the costumed interpreters who engage visitors in the story. 1. All of the staff there are acting for the period, so you can’t really ask them about their thoughts of the Ukrainian war. Most of the staff there are actually Ukrainian, and or of Ukrainian descent. They have a restaurant there with all Ukrainian food and pastries, and now my stomach hurts. 😊

When I did say Slava Ukraini to a baba she got quite upset. Her friend working with her explained to me that she’s lost loved ones to the war – we hugged and all was good.

    Slava Ukraini.

  2. A treasure in Alberta that I never knew existed. It’s wonderful that Ukrainians are very proud of their heritage and willingly share its charm and beauty with the world! 💙💛

  3. I’ll definitely go next time I am in Edmonton. 🇺🇦❤️🇨🇦
