Just got back to the US, after a few weeks visiting my elderly folks back home. Every year, my wife and kids and I go, and tbh, I act like a tourist for the most part, taking hundreds of photos and visiting sites, and every year, I realize what a gorgeous country I left behind. Got loads done this year, and still had to leave so much for next time. Embarrassed to say I visited (with wife and kids) Kilmainham Gaol for the first ever time, and also attended a Bohs v Shels game, which was incredible. I’m sure if I lived there, it’d be vastly different, and reality would hit home. In my 20s I couldn’t wait to emigrate, now I savour every second at home. I I’d a point somewhere….
