It is estimated that about 4,000 illegal immigrants, including more than 240 unaccompanied minors, remain in the registration center on the island, the highest number recorded so far. Local authorities point out that the last few days have brought an unprecedented influx of migrants, while the number of arrivals since the beginning of the year is approaching 110,000.
Frankly I don’t understand the reasoning behind the tolerance for illegal immigration. If we’re against it, then those people should be prevented by the Navy from reaching our ports. If we’re in favor of limitless immigration, then all visum requirements should be abolished, so immigrants could simply take a ferry to Europe. This current middle way doesn’t make any sense to me.
