🇩🇪Germany has turned to Greece with a proposal to hand over 100 Greek Leopard 1A5s that are currently in service to Ukraine, in exchange for modernized armored vehicles.

  1. This is a response to Switzerland blocking the sale of the same 100 tanks to Ukraine. While they won’t allow the sale of arms directly in to the conflict, they may allow these tanks to be traded for others they then have no say over, which can be supplied to Ukraine.

    Its not ideal, but better than 100 tanks sat there rusting. Hopefully it can be completed quickly.

  2. Big win for Greece, who get a free upgrade to their Leo 1A5 fleet. Ukraine gets less capable 1A5s. Better than no tanks at all. End result: Ukrainian casualties directly attributed to Switzerland.
