I’m pretty sure the planning authority is the one who controls what colours you could use, and I think on any new building, they only allow those dull colours. ibatilhom email u ara xjghidulek 😆
If only they build tasteful buildings.
They may look nicer but those old balconies are nowhere near as comfortable to use and clean as the new ones. They’re nice and shiny when they look clean but they’re only really clean from the outside for the first week after renovations. The way they’re built means there is no easy way to clean the outside, unlike modern balconies. There’s a reason why Valletta looks like a dump, even those houses with recently renovated wooden balconies.
Great to look at, uncomfortable to live in. Much like most other houses of character.
I feel that a big change must be taken to bring back traditional style neighbourhoods
Because the people that pay for them have no care for cultural heritage and absolutely zero taste. They just want a “modern” looking exterior that will justify the asking prices they will slap on to the units

There’s a push in Europe apparently to go back to detailed, more traditional, architecture that has some personality. There’s a reason tourists usually visit old towns instead of suburbs.

I’d love to know the reason behind the obsession with glass railings. Must be a nightmare to keep clean.
OK but this really isn’t any different anywhere else in Europe…
